Monica Lira Bravo is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is the owner and managing attorney of Lira Bravo Law, PLLC. She has been recognized as a Rising Star in Immigration Law by Texas Super Lawyers Magazine, as well as named to D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas in 2016 and 2017. Her practice focuses on family based visa petitions, citizenship, deportation and removal defense in the Dallas Immigration Court, appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals, asylum, special immigrant juvenile status, waivers, deferred action and other humanitarian forms of relief.

Monica was the first in her family to be born in the United States. A daughter of immigrants from Guanajuato, Mexico, Monica, understands the plight and struggles of her clients and thus strives to ensure they all get treated fairly and with integrity.  When her parents first attempted to become legal permanent residents in the early 1980s, they were cheated out of thousands of dollars by an immigration attorney. Her parents eventually gained legal permanent resident status, however that experience stayed with Monica throughout her life. Her first client was her father, who she helped apply for citizenship.  Monica knew that she had a calling to help immigrants, because she experienced first-hand the long process her parents went through and as a result could relate to her clients.

Monica Lira Bravo was elected to the Dallas County Community College Board of Trustees in June 2016. Her district covers East Dallas, Mesquite, Pleasant Grove, Seagoville and Sunnyvale. She currently serves as the chair of the Dallas Bar Association Immigration law section, as well as the President of the Emerald Isle Homeowners Association and on the Advisory Board for the Dallas Women Lawyers Association. She is a Past President of the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association, as well as a past fellow of the inaugural class of Latino Center for Leadership Development.

Her previous service includes the Dallas Bar Association Board of Directors; the Hispanic National Bar Association Board of Governors; Southeast Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; City of Dallas Judicial Nominating Commission; Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico Board of Directors; and Hockaday Alumnae Board. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, Texas Bar Fellows, Sigma Lambda Gamma Dallas-Fort Worth Alumnae Association, Greater Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Jewish-Latino Leadership Group.

Monica received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in French from Southern Methodist University and her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.  She lives in East Dallas with her husband Alberto and their daughter Abigail.
