Don’t be deceived by the Oliver Francis Gallery’s slightly shabby exterior. Behind it, you’ll find one of the most exciting art spaces in Dallas. Run by 23-year-old graduate student Kevin Jacobs, this recent addition to the city’s gallery scene focuses on cutting-edge contemporary works—such as installations, performance pieces, and new media experiments—designed to challenge viewers expectations. Recent exhibitions include a Skype poetry reading by William Seward Bonnie (a.k.a. Andrew Boeglin), Jeff Zilm’s strangely evocative optical-sound-on-canvas works, and a show by Michelle Rawlings, daughter of Mayor Mike Rawlings.
