Gexa Energy Pavilion

Profile

If you’ve been out to Fair Park since 1988, chances are you’ve caught a glimpse of the enormous Gexa Energy Pavilion, though you might have called it by a different name. Originally known as the Coca-Cola Starplex Ampitheatre, this outdoor venue has also been called the Starplex Ampitheatre, the Smirnoff Music Center, and the Superpages.com Center. In 2011 the name was changed to the Gexa Energy Pavilion.

In its history, the Gexa Energy Pavilion has welcomed some 6 million visitors to more than 600 concerts. In the past 20 years, performers as diverse as Elton John and Lil Wayne have graced the stage. The center has also held the Vans Warped Tour since 2003.

Gexa Energy Pavilion has plenty of food and beverages—typical concession stand fare at typical big-venue prices. The covered pavilion close to the stage fits about 7,500 patrons, while another 12,000 or so can fit into the lawn. If you decide to see a show on the lawn, bring a blanket and sunscreen.
