The complex that houses the Continental Lofts Gallery is nearly a century old—it was completed in 1914—and is registered as a National Historic Site. Although the gallery hasn’t been around nearly as long, it’s doing its best to leave a legacy of its own. Along with an affiliated company called Creative South, Continental Lofts Gallery organizes art events that cross multiple media and genres. With 6,000 square feet of space, the gallery can host exhibitions for works on canvas, sculpture, music, poetry, or dance. Shows feature the works of established artists to rising ones, including students from the Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts. The Continental Lofts Gallery allows certain pieces to be leased for months at a time, and it also offers special event packages for businesses interested in renting out the facility.
