Brushy Creek Vineyards

Owner and winemaker Les Constable is a scientist by trade. His enthusiasm about viticulture has led him to experiment with hearty, warm-weather grapes such as Tempranillo, Syrah, and Carnelian. Don’t let the modest tasting room fool you. Visitors get a first-rate tour with Constable that includes a stroll (or ride on one of five a golf carts) through the rows of vines and an engaging narrative about the growing Texas wine industry. A favorite is the Sherry made from estate Palomino grapes and blended in the Spanish solera system by Dr. Roy Mitchell. If you want to sip Brushy Creek wines, you must make the trek to Alvord (about an hour and a half northwest of Dallas) as 95 percent of the wine is sold through the tasting room.
