It's going strong despite the 52,000-square-foot Whole Foods with an extensive fish market that moved into the shopping center where TJ’s has stood since 1989. The key to its success is hands-on service, which includes cooking tips, seafood classes, house-made marinades, and spices. It’s also one of the few mom-and-pops that buys most of its seafood directly from the source.
