There’s something to be said for dinner with a view, and the sights don’t get much better from here. From your perch on wide blond booths, you can “peek” inside the lofty lofts on the upper floors of Mockingbird Station while you sip sake and chopstick your way through a rainbow roll. Oh, and your fellow diners ain’t bad, either: SMU girls in their Greek tees and Gucci bags, young couples on double-date night, and good-looking singles just catching up. The food, you ask? So far, so good, although we did have a bit of a service problem one night, which led to our sushi sitting for too long at the counter. Otherwise we’ve been pleased with the standout rolls, blackboard specials, and the long list (seven rolls, seven sushi!) of vegetarian options. Carpaccio de Japon was a memorable starter, with strips of paper-thin beef in a spicy soy garlic vinaigrette and a lively bed of greens with sliced fresh ginger and mango. Of the fish, we loved the clean taste of the yellowtail best, recommended by our server as super fresh that night. Any service bumps were forgiven after a couple of Kirin Lights and some excellent people-watching—inside and out.Get contact information by Reikyu Sushi & Bar.
