Karen Turner has more than 23 years of experience with two large firms – a large, full-service “downtown” law firm and the southwest’s largest family law firm.
This experience has helped her master the detail and technical expertise necessary in complex property cases and child custody litigation. She is also widely experienced in the creation and execution of marital agreements and is a prolific practitioner of collaborative law.
Few people understand what divorcing people are going through better than Karen Turner. Besides having experience as a family law attorney, she is a child of divorce and a stepparent, is divorced herself and is now a single parent.
Karen is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and the Family Law Sections of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association. She is also a Fellow of the Dallas Bar Foundation and has been elected to the Annette Stewart Inn of Court. And she is a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas.
Born March 16, 1962 in Longview, Texas, she graduated from Texas Tech University (B.A. cum laude, Advertising, 1984) and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D. cum laude, 1988).
She has been selected to the list of Texas Super Lawyers by her fellow attorneys (Thomson Reuters, 2003-2006, 2008-2012) and was listed among the state’s most outstanding lawyers in Texas Monthly. She has been honored by Best Lawyers (2011-2013), is AV (top) Rated by her peers in Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named a Preeminent Woman Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell.
Karen has written and spoken to attorney organizations on such topics as Enforcement of Court Orders in Family Law Cases, Legislative Changes to the Family Code and The Use and Preparation of Trial Notebooks. She lives in the Park Cities with her two children where she is involved in numerous community activities.
