Located next to Cowboys Stadium and Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Six Flags Over Texas has more than 50 rides catering to thrill-seekers and little ones alike. Although the Texas Giant, one of the park’s signature rides, was closed for renovation in 2009, it’s set to reopen in time for Six Flags’ 50th anniversary in 2011. Guests can still hop on The Titan or Batman: The Ride for thrills at breakneck speeds, or take the kids through Looney Tunes USA, where there are more than a dozen cartoon-themed rides, such as Bugs Bunny’s Spirit of St. Louie. Don’t like lines? A Flash Pass allows you save your spot while you spend time elsewhere in the park.
When you’re finished riding, win a stuffed animal at one of Six Flags’ fair games or get a temporary tattoo at Big Tex’s Tattoo Parlor. Hungry? Choose from barbecue, pizza, corndogs, pretzels, funnel cakes, and much more. Looking for a photo op? Track down one of the costumed characters—Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweetie Bird, or the Justice League superheroes. If you’re still in the park past dark, you might get lucky enough to catch a concert or another form of live entertainment.
Six Flags also hosts a series of seasonal events each year, like the Holiday in the Park celebration that typically runs from the end of November to early January. This event includes sledding down Frosty’s Snow Hill, appearances by Santa Claus, holiday carolers, and lights all over the park. Other seasonal events include Spring Break Out in March and Fright Fest in October.
