The Texas Rangers have played their home games in this retro-style stadium since it opened in 1994. Covering 1.4 million square feet, Rangers Ballpark can seat nearly 50,000 fans and has plenty of kid-friendly entertainment, making it a perfect spot for family outings.
The ballpark borrows architectural ideas from other stadiums, such as the upper deck’s steel frieze, reminiscent of the old Yankee Stadium, and a home run porch, modeled after Tiger Stadium’s right field seats. The manual scoreboard in the left field wall, similar to the one at the base of the Green Monster in Fenway Park, was replaced in 2009 by a high-tech video board that provides a steady stream of scores and stats throughout the game.
Rangers Ballpark occasionally hosts concerts and has dozens of promotions during the year, such as $1 dollar hot dogs on Wednesdays and fireworks after games on Fridays. Also located on the stadium’s 270-acre campus are a youth ballpark and a 12-acre lake with an adjoining park and picnic area. Hour-long tours are available year round, giving guests a glimpse at the Rangers clubhouse, dugout, press box, owner’s suite, and more.
