Serving as a degree-granting film and drama conservatory in Dallas, KD Studio certainly serves a vital role in the local acting community. In fact, it’s the only accredited institution of its kind outside of New York City and Los Angeles. But aside from training aspiring actors, singers, dancers, and filmmakers, KD Studio also provides its students with an 18,000-square-foot facility in which they can hone their crafts. KD Studio occupies a single-story building near the Dallas Market Center, offering 10 classrooms, casting studio, insert stage, sound booth, and private resource library. But the spot the public sees most often is the small KD Studio Theatre. The venue hosts productions put on by the KD Studio Acting Performance and Musical Theatre programs, as well as other local theater companies like Uptown Players and Theatre Britain.
