Founded by comedians Jan Norton and Linda Stogner more than 15 years ago, Backdoor Comedy Club is the longest running stand-up comedy showcase in Dallas. The 18-and-up club regularly hosts comedians such as Paul Varghese from Last Comic Standing 2 and Raj Sharma from The Gurus of Comedy Tour. Backdoor had several interesting locations before its current location at the Doubletree Hotel, including a bowling alley, a deli, a couple of pizza restaurants, a feed store, and even a few bars.
Every weekend, Backdoor Comedy Club features a mix of local and national touring comics, and, on Thursday nights, there’s an open mic night, where anyone who signs up in advance can have the floor for at least three minutes. On Friday and Saturday nights, Backdoor hosts a “Best of” showcase, and the club also offers An Introduction to Stand-up Comedy workshop.
