Some people go to bars to see and be seen. Some people go to bars to watch sports or catch up with friends. And some people go to bars to drink. Narrow, dark, and coated in a resin of decades-old cigarette smoke, the Winedale Tavern is a welcome respite for those who take their whiskey straight up, no chatter -- beyond the words “I'll take another.” You'll encounter some live music (including open mic and karaoke), but make no mistake: this is a drinker's bar. To the uninitiated, it may seem a tad cheerless, but regulars appreciate its reasonable prices and lack of pretense, mindless gabbing and 20-something socialites hoping to get lucky. Cheers.
