Dr. Sarah Tevis Poteet is a native Texan from Waco. She attended Texas Tech University then the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to earn her DDS degree. She was one of a select few to also complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, where she acquired specialized skills in complex restorative and cosmetic cases, implants, and sedation. Over her career, she has completed extensive continuing education courses to earn a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry award (FAGD) as well as a mastery education in Dental Sleep Medicine by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). She also completed a preceptorship in the Bale Doneen Method of cardiovascular disease prevention. She has a passion for being an “oral health detective” and educating her patients about how the health of the mouth and the body are connected. Dr. Poteet understands what it is like to be the patient and makes a point to treat each patient as she would want to be treated. She is known for her gentle touch, kind spirit, ability to listen to her patients, and exceptional clinical skills as a dentist.

Dr. Poteet is dedicated to advanced continuing education to keep up with new technology, procedures, and ways to help her patients prevent disease and stay healthy. Dr. Poteet takes a holistic, oral-systemic health approach to customized care and wellness and spends time addressing the root causes of inflammation and issues. Aspects of her functional dentistry approach include nutritional counseling, safe mercury amalgam filling removal, screening for sleep disorders, advanced bacterial testing, and collaborating with other medical providers to prevent and manage disease.

Dr. Poteet is a member of many prestigious dental organizations including the American Dental Association (ADA), the Texas Dental Association (TDA), the Dallas County Dental Society (DCDS), the American Academy of of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH), and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT).
Dr. Poteet is an active leader in organized dentistry having served on several boards and committees, both locally with the Dallas County Dental Society and nationally with the American Dental Association. She is known for her contributions to the dental field and her dedication to continuing education to stay current with dental trends and technology.
