Heritage provides a challenging Christian education to students of average to above average ability who have learning differences. The school joyfully engages students’ hearts and minds within a framework of a distinctively Christ-centered education. With intimate class sizes and a low student/teacher ratio, each student receives individualized attention. Small-group instruction allows students to move at their own instructional pace. Research-based methods, curriculum, and multi-sensory teaching strategies are implemented in all classes. The aim is to help students transition back into a mainstream educational environment when they are ready. Heritage employs Certified Academic Language Therapists in addition to experienced teachers. Students with dyslexia are scheduled to receive daily instruction in Take Flight, language, and reading as three separate class periods. This allows for intensive reading, writing, and spelling intervention during the school day. Additionally, all students are involved in real-world math and science application projects, fine arts classes, daily Bible lessons, and weekly Chapel. Speech and language group services are provided to all students who qualify. In addition, students have the option to participate in after-school study hall, as well as extracurricular clubs and athletics. Kelly Morris, Head of School, says, “Heritage is a hidden gem in Dallas where students build academic, emotional, and spiritual confidence as we remediate individual learning differences.”
