Terry Bentley Hill is a top-rated and award-winning Dallas attorney. Ms. Bentley Hill focuses her practice exclusively on criminal defense, and she has achieved notable success representing the rights and liberties of those who stand accused or are under investigation for virtually any type of felony or misdemeanor offense.

A staunch advocate for the rights of others, particularly those suffering from mental illness, Ms. Bentley Hill devotes a lot of her time and resources to raising awareness for mental health conditions and treatment.  She understands that incarceration is typically not the best situation for those struggling with mental health or substance use disorders, and she works hard to help find alternative solutions for those similarly affected who have been charged with criminal offenses.

In all cases, Ms. Bentley Hill takes the time to get to know her clients and fully understand the circumstances surrounding their legal problems so that she can devise the most effective defense strategies possible for their unique situations.  Through this high level of client commitment, she has earned numerous awards and honors throughout her career.  For multiple years she has been recognized as a Best Lawyer for criminal defense by D Magazine and was selected as a Super Lawyer by Thompson Reuters. She was also recognized by her peers as one of Dallas’ Best Criminal Defense Lawyers in the area of mental health representation.

A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Ms. Bentley Hill attended Texas A&M University School of Law, formerly Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor in 2008.  The State Bar of Texas admitted her to practice the following year, and she also practices before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas as well as the U.S. Supreme Court.

Highly active in her legal community, Ms. Bentley Hill is a member of several local, state and national bar associations.  Recognized as a leader in her field, she has served on the adjunct legal faculty at the University of North Texas Dallas College of Law, and she has written extensively and conducted lectures and seminars across her region on a variety of topics related to criminal defense and mental health awareness.

Ms. Bentley Hill is a life fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and she is a graduate of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s Trial College.

Ms. Bentley Hill is a nationally recognized mental health advocate, and in 2018 the Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme appointed her to the Lawyer Well-Being Roundtable to address issues affecting the legal profession, and the State Bar of Texas also awarded her its Presidential Citation for her efforts in assisting struggling attorneys.  Ms. Bentley Hill is a member of the Texas Lawyers Assistance Program board of directors and often shares her story at CLE’s, law firms and community events.
