Dr. Walter X. Loyola has an Spinal Fellowship from the University of South Florida. He is a graduate of the University Central Del Caribe in Puerto Rico and completed his residency in Neurological Surgery at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has also trained at the the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School, The Institute of Neurology in London and Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey.
Board Certified by The American Board of Neurological Surgery, he is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons . Member of The American Medical Association, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Texas Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society.
Dr. Loyola is the Vice-Chair of the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano Surgery Department.
Dr. Loyola has been performing minimally invasive procedures for the spine since 1996. He uses the most advanced techniques in minimally and open spine surgery. Decisions regarding treatment for your spine must be made carefully. Dr. Loyola researches each patient condition before determining whether or not surgery is necessary. If the patient’s condition needs surgery, Dr. Loyola evaluates if it can be treated using the minimally invasive techniques since these are gentle and require no or minimum hospital stay depending if is a fusion or not, or long recovery time.
