Dr. Tyler Cooper grew up at the renowned Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas, which was founded by his father, Kenneth H. Cooper, MD, MPH, just eight days before he was born. Sunday afternoons with the Cooper family consisted of jogging three miles together. It was his family’s commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle that shaped Dr. Tyler Cooper and led him to follow in his father’s footsteps.

After graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Dr. Cooper worked abroad and in business development for Cooper Aerobics for several years before deciding to enter medical school. He received a Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and a Master of Public Health in Health Care Management from Harvard University. He completed his internship in Family Practice at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia and his preventive medicine residency at The University of South Carolina. Since 2006, Dr. Cooper has been a practicing preventive medicine physician at Cooper Clinic.

That same year, Dr. Tyler Cooper, together with his father, expanded the organization’s healthy-living mission to McKinney, Texas, with the opening of a second Cooper Fitness Center and Cooper Spa in the Craig Ranch development.

In 2007, Dr. Tyler Cooper was named CEO of Cooper Aerobics Enterprises where he oversees Cooper Fitness Center, Cooper Spa and Cooper Hotel & Conference Center. Also that year, Dr. Tyler Cooper released his first book, Start Strong, Finish Strong (Avery, 2007) co-authored with his father. The book provides readers with the tools and information they need to live the life they want at any age and any stage.

Taking the Cooper philosophy, “it is easier and less expensive to maintain good health than it is to regain it once it is lost,” to Corporate America was his next challenge. While Cooper Aerobics has offered a variety of corporate wellness offerings since the 1970's, it wasn't until 1995 when Dr. Tyler Cooper became keenly interested in consolidating and formally creating a business-to-business entity. In 2009, he relaunched the direction of Cooper's corporate wellness services with Cooper Wellness Strategies (formerly Cooper Consulting Partners). As Founding Partner and CEO, Dr. Tyler Cooper and Cooper Wellness Strategies provides strategic health risk management and consulting to improve executive and employee health, helping companies achieve maximum benefit with minimum impact to the bottom line.

When Cooper Aerobics celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2010, Dr. Tyler Cooper recognized this milestone as the right opportunity to re-brand the Cooper organization and position it for continued growth. He led the effort for the organization to embark on a new challenge: to “Cooperize the world,” the vision statement and rallying cry for all Cooper teammates. As part of the re-brand, the organization launched a new tagline, Get Cooperized,” in addition to creating an updated logo and new visual architecture for the organization in 2011.

In 2012, the organization launched a new website at cooperaerobics.com, visually showcasing for the first time how all eight Cooper entities are unified in their approach to help people live a well-rounded life with Get Cooperized as the heart of its mission.

2012 also signaled a significant effort to revolutionize fitness. In April, Dr. Tyler Cooper announced a multi-million dollar renovation of Cooper Fitness Center Dallas. The new facility gives members access to the best-in-class fitness experience and leading professional trainers while creating a healthy-living culture and community. With oversight of all aspects of the renovation, Dr. Tyler Cooper accomplished his goal to build a one-of-a-kind environment focused on the whole person—mind, body and soul.

Dr. Tyler Cooper sits on the Cooper Complete® Board of Directors and has been named the 2012-2014 President of American Heart Association - Dallas Division Board of Directors. In addition, he is a member of Young President’s Organization and serves on the Advisory Boards of Baylor University School of Education, Harvard University School of Public Health and D Healthcare Daily. Dr. Tyler Cooper previously served on the 2012-2013 Friends of BrainHealth Scientist Selection Committee for the Center for Brain Health at The University of Texas at Dallas.

An avid runner, Dr. Tyler Cooper was an All-Southwest Conference star in both track and cross country at Baylor. His love for the outdoors and extreme adventures has resulted in climbing several of the worlds’ tallest summits, back country snow skiing, diving several of the world's seas and traveling to all seven continents.

Like his father, Dr. Tyler Cooper’s professional and personal goals align perfectly. With his wife, Angie, and their children, Clark, Lang and Kai, his passion to help people live better both sooner and later is as strong as his own commitment to living the Cooperized lifestyle.
