Dr. Stuart Akerman is a Board Certified Gastroenterologist with Digestive Health Associates of Texas (DHAT) and sees patients in the DOC building at the Medical Center of Plano campus. Dr. Akerman was originally practicing in New York but has relocated to Collin County, where he has been helping patients since 2015.
In addition to EGD/Upper Endoscopy and Colonoscopy, Dr. Akerman is fellowship trained in multiple advanced endoscopy procedures such as ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Fine Needle Aspiration, Cholangioscopy, and others. He is excited to be working with other well trained endoscopists in his medical group, in order to increase the availability for complex procedures and better serve patients in a timely manner.
Dr. Akerman has begun to schedule patients for in-office hemorrhoid therapy, which is available by appointment. Additionally, he offers Open Access Colonoscopy to eligible healthy patients. You can learn more about this program by viewing his website at http://www.stuartakermanmd.com/open-access-colonoscopy
Dr. Akerman approaches a consultation as an opportunity to meet a new patient and provide care as part of a team alongside the patient’s referring physician. It is important to him to always keep the referring providers apprised of developments with their patients, and to maintain a constant dialogue with both the patients and their referring physicians.
