Ronald Friedman, M.D.
As an experienced wood and marble sculptor, breast and body contouring come naturally for board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Ronald Friedman. In his 20th year of private practice in Plano and Flower Mound, Dr. Friedman is the former Chief of Plastic Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He currently serves as the Director of the West Plano Plastic Surgery Center, a nationally-accredited outpatient surgery center on the campus of Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.
The average plastic surgeon does 35 breast augmentations annually. Last year Dr. Friedman performed 163. He uses 3 cm (1.25 inch) incisions to place saline implants (about 5 cm for silicone gel), places sterile implant "sizers" to preview your size prior to selecting the implants, and heat seals all tissues with cautery to minimize bleeding. This eliminates the need for suture removal (since all stitches are internal), drainage tubes, ACE wraps, and compression bras. Dr. Friedman's reoperation rates for infection, bleeding, and capsular contracture (implant hardening) are far lower than published national averages.
Dr. Friedman also specializes in breast lift, combined breast augmentation with lift, breast reduction, breast augmentation revision, nipple surgery, liposuction, and mini and full tummy tucks. He personally performs every Botox, Dysport, Restylane, and Juvederm injection--and he performs hundreds of these each year.
Although cosmetic surgeons often claim that they can "sculpt" your breasts, thighs, or nose, most have no real experience in art or sculpture. In contrast, Dr. Friedman has been sculpting wood and marble for over 25 years. Many of these pieces have been displayed in galleries or sold by commission. Dr. Friedman is photographed in front of a windsurfer that he carved.
"I sincerely believe that my strong foundation in art and sculpture has made me a better plastic surgeon."
After completing high school at age 16 and college at 18, Dr. Friedman graduated with Honors from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he subsequently served on the full-time plastic surgery faculty. He has authored numerous journal articles and textbook chapters, has been featured on multiple television and radio broadcasts, and has lectured on a national level. Dr. Friedman is also the recipient of awards from the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Most important, Dr. Friedman performs every consultation, takes every photo, and places every stitch himself. And he is never in a hurry. He states, "I look at it this way: it's a couple of hours out of my life--but it's the rest or yours."
