Dr. Stone graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in biomedical engineering (as well as a second degree in biology). His educational experience had an emphasis on robotics and advanced technology. He completed his medical degree from U.T. Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Stone placed in the top 1% of all physicians taking the national licensing exam in medical school. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Stone has lectured about emerging and future technology in surgery.
Considered a leading voice in the field of advanced surgical technology and techniques, he was one of the first general surgeons in the country to train on the DaVinci robotic surgical platform in 2007. With this head start in robotics, Dr. Stone has become one of the busiest robotic general surgeons in DFW.
He has been recognized yearly as Best in Dallas/Collin County by D Magazine, as well as in Living Magazine. Dr. Stone is also listed as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly (a nationwide recognition) and Texas Monthly. He was also honored to receive a U.S. House of Representatives Congressional Recognition.
Board certified, and holding the distinguished position as Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Stone proudly serves as assistant professor of surgery at TCU Medical School. He has also held the highly regarded positions of President of the Medical Staff, Chief of Surgery, and Chairman of the Quality Council at Methodist Richardson Medical Center.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. They are active members of Watermark Community Church.
