G.V. Gonzalez-Stawinski, MD is a cardiothoracic surgeon with in-depth experience in adult cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, reoperations, bypass surgery, and valve surgery. Dr. Gonzalez focuses on offering patients a full spectrum of surgical options for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. He is a graduate of the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico and was privileged to serve as a visiting professor for Johns Hopkins Medical Center and Duke University, two well respected campuses in the medical community.
Dr. Gonzalez is also a published author contributing comprehensive research findings and clinical experience with thoracic and vascular diseases to more than 60 nationally recognized publications. He is a recipient of two prestigious awards that include the Charles Bryant Clinical Excellence Award as well as the Kauffman Center Young Investigator's Award for Heart Failure. In addition to his many accomplishments, Dr. Gonzalez served, in 2006, as chief surgical resident before becoming associate staff surgeon at Cleveland Clinic, one of U.S. News & World Reports’ top 4 hospitals in America.
