Chris Michael, M.D.
Dr. Chris Michael is board-certified in neurological surgery and has been in private practice since 2001. After graduating from Duke University and Baylor College of Medicine, he went on to complete neurosurgical residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston as well. In 2001, Dr. Michael began private practice at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) in Dallas. His practice has expanded to serve patients at offices in Addison and Waxahachie as well.
Spinal surgery at Methodist Hospital for Surgery in Addison is a focal point for his practice where he serves as Vice-chairman of the board of managers. Dr. Michael has also served as the director of the state-of-the-art neurosurgical operating facilities at BUMC, which include intraoperative MRI for the brain as well as image-guided surgery for the brain and spine.
Minimally invasive spine surgery, such as outpatient treatment of lumbar and cervical herniated discs, is among Dr. Michael’s surgical specialties. Dr. Michael’s expertise also includes complex spine reconstruction, microsurgery for tumors of the brain and spine, and pituitary surgery. He has an active radiosurgery practice treating brain tumors, acoustic neuromas, spinal tumors and trigeminal neuralgia without making an incision.
During his residency, Dr. Michael spent time at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for neurosurgical training and research activities and has published research on brain tumors in the leading neurosurgical journals. Dr. Michael is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons as well as the AANS/CNS joint section on brain tumors. Dr. Michael is also involved in investigational clinical trials for brain tumors.
Dr. Michael enjoys being back in Dallas where he was raised. He lives with his wife, Mina, their three children, Ellie, Jakob, and Eva and their four dogs.
