Profile

This Knox-Henderson boutique claims to be the oldest retailer of Mexican imports in Texas. For more than 30 years, decorative trade clients, chain restaurants, and individual shoppers have gone to La Mariposa for folk art, serapes, and coconut masks. Among its shelves you’ll find merrymaking staples such as colorful piñatas (from $5), straw sombreros, handmade paper flowers, plastic banners, and children’s party favors like boleros ($5), maracas ($5 to $7), and cascarones–confetti-filler eggshells sold by the carton ($5 per dozen).
