Slappy’s Puppet Playhouse

Profile

Clowns Slappy (Tiffany Riley) and Monday (Dick Monday) are a married duo who toured with circuses around the world, taught at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, and appeared on TV alongside the likes of Al Roker before planting their big feet in Dallas. They now produce European-style marionette shows and perform their variety act—pratfalls, red noses, gags, and all—in the Palaestra Gym.

Weeklong camps are led by professional clowns, aerialists, magicians, and puppeteers. Campers learn circus performance techniques including juggling, magic tricks, aerial arts, and clowning around. Physical activities are performed in the safety of a gymnastics center. Weeklong camps conclude in a performance for family and friends. Ages 6 to 12. Weeklong camps are $225 and include snacks and circus goody bags.

Birthday parties begin with priority seating for a show featuring master pupetry or one of Slappy and Monday’s hilarious variety acts. After the curtain falls, kids head over to a private room to enjoy cake, presents, and for additional fees, face painting and balloon sculpting. Packages start at $200 for up to 15 children.
