Back in the late 1990s, Vance Wingate’s live-work studio space operated as one of only a handful artist-run art spaces in Dallas, hosting a string of well-curated shows and earning a reputation as a quality gallery off the main drag. Then life (and money) happened, and Grey Matters sat quietly unsed for the better part of a decade. But amidst a recent resurgance of Dallas’ DIY art aesthetic, the space has hosted innovative projects organized by the art collective The Art Foundation, curator Christina Rees, and others. It’s not official whether Grey Matters is—or is not—back. But keep an eye on it; it might host next weekend’s best show you didn’t hear about until it was too late.
