Founded in 1935 by Percy Dow, the Dow Art Galleries have housed a collection of oil, acrylic, watercolor, and other works on canvas for the better part of a century. The business is still family-run—Percy Dow’s grandson Greg now manages the gallery with his wife, Patricia—and the art is still top-notch. The gallery is prominent for its early Texas art, though it also carries works from Italian, Russian, and other international artists. As impressive as the art may be, Dow Art Galleries is just as well known for its services in art restoration. Beyond artwork, the gallery restores and protects maps, heirlooms, and other valuables. Other services offered include consultation, appraisals, and custom and shadow box framing.
