Not too long ago, Oak Cliff’s walkable shopping-and-dining district was just another run-down neighborhood. Jim Lake and other developers began investing in the property starting in the mid-`80s, buying up the storefronts that were later transformed into a variety of charming boutiques and the restaurants we all know and love, such as Hattie’s, Oddfellows, and Eno’s. The two city blocks now offers more than 50 local shops and restaurants where the beard-and-flannel set mixes easily with families and Parkies to enjoy everything from artisanal chocolate to fine dining.
