While there seems to be an insatiable public desire to know about the lives of Hollywood’s elite, the stories of struggling performing artists—however talented—are often forgotten. But TACA empathizes with the little guy, and its goal is to stimulate interest in the local performing arts scene.
What began as an auction to benefit the Dallas Theater Center in the mid-1960s has evolved into a support group that provides financial aide and other services. To date, TACA has handed out more than $16 million to nearly 140 arts groups around Dallas-Fort Worth. TACA also gives out an annual Silver Cup Award to one man and one woman for outstanding volunteer service to Dallas arts.
