Jane M. Kao, M.D.

Dr. Jane Kao, board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology, has been practicing in the Dallas area since 1995.  She completed her residency training in pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital and her fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at UCLA College of Medicine.  Dr. Kao has been consistently voted by her peers as one of D Magazine’s Best Pediatric Specialist. She is a member of the American Heart Association (Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young), American Society of Echocardiography, Society of Pediatric Echocardiography and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Kao specializes in the evaluation of cardiac disorders from infancy through young adulthood which includes heart murmurs, chest pain, rhythm disorders, syncope, hypertension, and elevated cholesterol.  In addition, Dr. Kao provides services in fetal echocardiography which involves the prenatal screening and detection of congenital heart disease and rhythm disorders.  Prenatal counseling is carried out at the time of the initial visit with the expectant mom regarding the fetal diagnosis.

She is the medical director of the pediatric echocardiography laboratory at Medical City Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Kao serves as a physician advisor in the pediatric ultrasound curriculum at El Centro College in Dallas.  She is also a member of the following local and regional medical affiliations: Texas Pediatric Society, Dallas County Medical Society, and Texas Medical Association.  Dr. Kao is currently a consultant with the American Heart Association in filming several informational videos for general physicians regarding the detection of heart disease in children.
