This store is scheduled to cease operations on Aug. 14, 2010. Book lovers won’t want to miss a trip to Legacy Books, in the Shops at Legacy in Plano. Opened in 2008, Legacy is the largest independently owned bookstore in the country, with more than 100,000 books in stock and a diverse selection of books, including the American Booksellers Association’s IndieNext choices. The modern, light-filled space makes browsing easy.
Questions? The booksellers are eager and full of knowledge. Hungry? The cafe serves sandwiches, tea, coffee, and other treats, and it’s a good place to relax with a new purchase. Kids stay very busy in the colorful (and large) children’s area. Looking for a unique space to hold an event? Legacy has a permanent event area that can hold up to 80 people, and there is also a demonstration kitchen for culinary events. Book signings happen several times a week, so check the website to see if your favorite author is coming to town.
