On the surface Kidrobot looks like a comic-reading kid’s dream world, but this shop’s actually made up of art. Figurines, plush toys, tees, and pajama sets feature the alternative toy-inspired talents of artists from all over the world. Blind box mini figure sets enable collectors to amass a full artist’s collection without knowing what they’re purchasing—kind of like the surprise in a Cracker Jack box, only fancier. But Kidrobot’s pride and joy is the MUNNY vinyl toy, which comes as a blank 3-D canvas to be drawn, painted, dressed, posed, and even pierced. Some become masterpieces, sold for $2,000. The Dallas locale is one of only five Kidrobot stores in the United States.
