Dr. Virgil Medlock, a Dallas native, attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Affiliated Hospitals. He then completed a year-long Fellowship with San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Group. His general orthopedic practice includes a specialization in sports medicine with an emphasis on disorders of the shoulder and knee. As a result of his participation in high school football, Dr. Medlock, who is board certified in orthopedic surgery, developed an interest in sports medicine. This interest became more intense during his third year in medical school with his introduction to orthopedic surgery. During his residency, Dr. Medlock met, was trained by and became impressed by the orthopedic surgeons on the medical staff at Baylor Dallas. Dr. Medlock spends his free time with his wife, daughter, parents and in-laws, all of whom live in the Dallas area. He is an avid pilot and holds a multi-engine instrument rating. He enjoys using his family's aircraft to travel on bird hunting trips with his father and friends.
