Dr. Weiner graduated from the University of California Los Angeles in 1970 with a degree in microbiology. He then attended and graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1975. He completed his neurosurgical residency at New York University Medical Center from 1976-1981 after a surgical internship at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. Dr. Weiner joined the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Galveston as a full-time neurosurgical faculty member from 1981-1987. As associate professor of neurosurgery, he was involved in teaching, clinical research, and clinical practice.

In 1987, Dr. Weiner joined Dallas Neurosurgical and Spine Associates. He continues an academic affiliation with UTSW as clinical associate professor of neurosurgery and continues to be actively involved in clinical medical research for a variety of conditions including the treatment of brain tumors, chronic headaches, and other chronic pain conditions. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Weiner practices at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and served two terms as chief of neurosurgery. He is also on staff at Baylor Hospital of Plano, Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall, Texas Institute for Surgery, and Lakepointe Medical Center located in Rowlett, Texas.

Dr. Weiner’s practice involves all aspects of general microneurosurgery for the brain and spine, as well as vascular neurosurgery. His clinical interests include Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Gamma Knife), multi-modality treatment of malignant and benign brain tumors, surgical treatment of headaches, trigeminal neuralgia, and chronic pain syndrome. He also offers a comprehensive approach to minimally invasive treatment of neck and back problems.

He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Congress of Neurosurgeons. He is also a member of the Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, Texas Pain Society, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.

Dr. Weiner has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and medical textbooks on a variety of clinical issues.
