Dr. Carter is a board-certified dermatologist whose scope of practice includes medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.  She sees children and adults at her offices in Cedar Hill and Medical City Dallas.  Her special interests include skin of color, psoriasis, acne, and skin cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.

Of utmost priority in her clinic is providing excellent care, and Dr. Carter believes this begins with compassion, education, and communication.  She views the opportunity to care for patients as a privilege as well as a two-way relationship. Drawing from her undergraduate degree in Human Development, Dr. Carter understands the complexity of human interaction and the need for teamwork—between doctors, patients, nurses, and staff--to successfully treat patients. “Patients should leave a physician’s office with more than just a prescription," she comments.  "I strive to empower patients with knowledge about their condition and understanding regarding their options and chosen intervention.”
Dr. Carter has publications in various medical journals, and she has been a presenter at meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Texas Dermatological Society.  She recently relocated to the Dallas area from Milwaukee, WI, where she volunteered as a speaker and mentor for the Cream City Medical Society Health Careers Mentorship Program, a program designed to encourage high school students to enter health care fields.  Additionally, she was the featured speaker for the "Loving the Skin You’re In" seminar last year.

Dr. Carter is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.  She completed her undergraduate education at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.  She earned her doctorate in medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX as a Diversity Scholar, and she completed her training at BCM as the first African-American resident in the department of Dermatology.
