Dr. Benbow prides himself on his conservative and personal approach to patient care. Surgery is only considered as a last option and all other conservative measures such as physical therapy, chiropractic treatments, medication therapy and injection therapy must be exhausted before surgery is considered. If surgery is necessary, patients often undergo a comprehensive state-of-the-art pain mapping process to accurately determine the precise cause and location of the pain. This comprehensive process facilitates the least amount of surgery possible and improves patient outcomes with less postoperative pain and quicker recovery times. It is this personalized approach that has earned Dr. Bryce Benbow numerous awards including the Patients’ Choice Award four years in a row and Compassionate Doctor Recognition.
Dr. Bryce Benbow was the first surgeon in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to successfully perform endoscopic spine surgery with a 3mm incision. This procedure is done under sedation without the risks of general anesthesia. There is minimal blood loss, no scarring and a quick return to activities. No ordinary back doctor, Dr. Benbow has extensive experience with endoscopic surgery and is a pioneer in the field. He continues to expand his abilities with completion of an endoscopic preceptorship in Germany and Holland with the creators and early pioneers of endoscopic spinal surgery.
Dr. Benbow completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the Los Angeles Spine Surgery Institute with Dr. Robert Watkins and Dr. Lytton Williams, formerly of the famed Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. During his one-year fellowship, Dr. Benbow focused on sports-related spine injuries in professional and collegiate athletes, along with treatment of degenerative spine disorders and minimally invasive treatments involving the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. While in fellowship, Dr. Benbow conducted research on the PRODISC® Artificial Disc Replacement during the FDA study. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Benbow completed his orthopedic residency and internship, and received his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with honors prior to medical school matriculation.
As an active member of the North American Spine Society and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Dr. Bryce Benbow remains dedicated to the advancement of minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery as a scientific advisor to several spinal implant companies, as well as proctoring newly trained endoscopic spine surgeons.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Benbow cherishes his free time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys an occasional round of golf.
