Profile

The building that houses the Marty Walker Gallery is fairly inconspicuous. Tucked away on the south side of Farrington Street in a white, one-story structure, the only signage is a bit of small black lettering on the front wall that simply reads, “Marty Walker Gallery.” If you weren’t looking for it, you’d probably miss it.

So here’s a tip. Look for it.

With a focus on art that uses unique processes or materials, the Marty Walker Gallery showcases an undeniably distinct collection—such as William Lamson’s Automatic exhibit in 2009, where kites and windmills did the drawing across multiple media platforms, including video, photography, painting, and sculpture. The majority of the work on exhibit comes from a stable of artists, but occasionally art is brought in from other institutions. Although most of Walker’s artists are Texas-based, she also represents national and international artists.
