Christopher Martin is a Texas-based artist whose pieces grace the walls of the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas and corporate collections from Stockholm to Hong Kong. But it’s not just his dealings with deep-pocketed companies that have kept his Dallas galleries in business since 1996. Martin’s unique style draws in veteran collectors, art hobbyists, and neophytes. Using acrylic paints, Martin creates abstract works that are largely inspired by patterns in nature, from leaves and foliage to slabs of marble and petrified wood. Some of his works come on canvas, but Martin also employs an “acrylic on acrylic” style—a reverse glass painting technique using acrylic paint—that gives the rest of his art a glossy, shimmering look.
