Profile

Located on the grounds of Fort Worth’s Meacham International Airport, the Vintage Flying Museum pays homage to America’s aviation history with a collection of artifacts, exhibits, and aircraft. Wander through a room filled with reciprocal and jet engines, check out an array of unique model planes, or peruse memorabilia from World War II. But most impressive are the more than 20 aircraft on display, including “Chuckie,” one of the last flying B-17s left in the world. Though Chuckie still takes to the skies from time to time, some of the planes in the museum’s collection—many were built in the 1940s—will never fly again.

The Vintage Flying Museum offers a number of educational in conjunctions with the FAA, from camps for middle and high school students to workshops for teachers. The museum also has a Living History group dedicated to honoring WWII pilots and aircraft through air shows, reenactments, and other functions in period uniforms.
