Mockingbird Station

Profile

Since it opened in 2001, Mockingbird Station has been a hot spot for dining and entertainment. With apparel stores ranging from chains such as Ann Taylor, The Gap, and American Apparel to boutiques such as Bittano and Oscar Fierro, there’s a fair mix of fashion, from the mainstream to the alternative. Pop into Index Skateboarding for skater apparel, skateboards, and decks, or unleash your inner kid at Kidrobot, where you’ll find designer toys and original clothing.

Meals at Mockingbird Station are moderately priced, but that doesn’t mean you’re missing out on good food. Sushi, seafood, Tex-Mex, pub food, Italian, and ice cream comprise the bulk of what you’ll find here. For date night, Urban Taco, with a modern Mexican menu, teams up the Angelika Film Center for the “Dinner and a Movie” promo, where $23 gets you chips and salsa, an entrée, a churro, a soft drink, and a movie ticket any day of the week. Aside from the Angelika, the Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub provides a perfect place to wind down and cut up.

When it’s time to head home, hop on the DART rail—it wouldn’t be Mockingbird Station without the station—with trains pulling away every few minutes. Or, if you find yourself never wanting to leave, you can rent a studio, loft, or penthouse here.
