It’s hard not to think of Fair Park as the home of the State Fair of Texas, which it first hosted back in 1886. The 21-story Texas Star Ferris wheel is a permanent fixture on the Dallas skyline and a year-round reminder of the fair. Held every September and October for 24 days, the State Fair of Texas has rides, exhibits, arts, livestock, and plenty of fried food.
But Fair Park has much more to offer than a school holiday and a date with Big Tex. It boasts more than 277 acres of museums, venues, performance spaces, and attractions. Coming in 2010 is Summer Place Park, an amusement park billed as “the State Fair all summer long.”
