Dr Pepper Ballpark

In 2003, minor league baseball’s Shreveport SwampDragons relocated to Frisco, switched mascots (they became the RoughRiders), and took over a brand-new stadium off the Dallas North Tollway. Designed by David Schwartz, who also designed the Ballpark at Arlington, Dr Pepper Ballpark has unique architecture that, from the outside, looks more like a village than a baseball stadium. The park can accommodate 7,800 fans in traditional fold-down seats and nearly 2,000 more in luxury boxes and lawn seating.

There’s a walking path around the entire stadium that takes you through lush landscaping in the outfield and plenty of dining areas along the sides of the field. Lawn seats in left-center and right-center fields are relaxing locales to hang out and take in a game, and the Pool Zone (yes, with a real pool) in right field can be reserved by small groups on hot summer days. If you’d rather skip the game, hour-long tours are available on weekdays year round. Down the third base line, Deuce’s Playground features a three-level tower complete with red plastic slides. Bounce houses located behind the Corral in left field are another good spot to bring a rambunctious kid on a sugar rush.
