Dealey Plaza

Profile

The site of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, Dealey Plaza was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1993 by the National Park Service. Today, thanks to a restoration effort begun by the City of Dallas in 2003, the buildings, streetlights, and signage in the plaza appear almost exactly as they did on that infamous day in November, 1963. Check out the north pergola, from which Abraham Zapruder shot his famous home movie, and the grassy knoll, where the mysterious second shooter may have waited for the presidential motorcade to come into range.
