Profile

The American Airlines Center, in the Victory Park development, hosts home games for the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars from October to June, as well as concerts and other events year round. The bright red brick, granite, and limestone exterior make it an unmistakable sight off I-35. New high-definition video boards—four cover the sides of the hanging center display, and there is one each on the north and south ends—provide spectators with “HD in every seat.” The center cost more than $400 million to build and can seat anywhere from 18,000 to 21,000 screaming fans, depending on the event.

The first event held at the American Airlines Center was an Eagles concert on July 28, 2001. Since then, the arena has hosted acts such as The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Billy Joel, Elton John, and Luciano Pavarotti. Other events, including wrestling, rodeo, and the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, have also drawn crowds to the AAC. Outside the south side of the arena is the AT&T Plaza, which serves as a gathering point before and after events.
