Move over, Southlake. Allen’s $60-million stadium, which opened to national chuckles and incredulity in 2012, features a sunken-bowl design and facilities to rival some of the best college stadiums. It seats 18,000 and offers two luxury suites, a 3,400-square-foot HD video scoreboard, and a pro-quality press box. Covering high school football has never sounded so good. And kudos to the Allen Eagles for remembering that other athletes like nice things, too. There’s practice areas for golf and wrestling, plus a unisex weight room and a locker room for the wrestlers.
