Upstart Productions

Founded in 2009, Upstart received plenty of praise throughout its inaugural year—including a handful of DFW Theatre Critics Forum Awards—while trying its best to provide a forum for a new generation of Dallas performing artists to develop their skills. Pulling inspiration for theater in every form, the 20-member company produces works that range from classical to contemporary, as well as original plays never seen before by the public. Its first-ever production was Suzan-Lori Parks’ Pulitzer Prize-winning work, Topdog/Underdog, followed by another acclaimed play, Kenneth Lonergan’s This Is Our Youth.
